Xavier Taylor

Book, Music, Lyrics & Music Director

Raised in Maryland,  Xavier Taylor has gained much recognition across the country singing everything from Verdi to Rock. Always having an immense passion for music, Xavier started his studies with The Maryland State Boychoir and continued with them performing around the world for 10 years. His interests in acting, music and the combination of both led him to attend Carver Center for the Arts where he studied under Dr. Evan Walker. 

 

Since then, Xavier has attended New England Conservatory in Boston, MA, where he has worked with tenor Vincent Cole and baritone Michael Meraw. After his time at NEC, He has been honored to work with various opera companies and YAPs including Boston Metro Opera, Utopia Opera, Regina Opera, Opera company of Brooklyn, Cimarron Opera, Nashville Opera, Nashville Symphony and countless other recitals, concerts, and cabaret performances.  

 

Now residing in Charlottesville, VA, Xavier is a part of such a vibrant and musically diverse community. Xavier is the Resident Music Director, Voice Instructor and director of All-Stars Pre-Professional Program at a local Performing Arts Academy, DMR Adventures.

Jessica Harris

Director

Jessica is an interdisciplinary theatre artist and director focused on uplifting the human spirit through the arts. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Empowered Players, a 501(c)3 arts education nonprofit in Fluvanna, VA. Through EP, she provides yearlong accessible arts programs for k-12 students, and her TEDx Talk titled "The Transformative Power of Theater in Rural Communities" highlights her work. Jessica is also Co-Chair of the Theatre for Youth Division of the Virginia Theatre Association, and Board President of the Descendants of Enslaved Communities at UVA 501 (c)3.

Jessica holds a Master's in Educational Psychology from UVA, where she also earned an interdisciplinary B.A in arts nonprofit management & education. Her work often examines the intersection of arts, education, and social justice, and is centered on community connection.

Enough: Flipping the Script on Mental Illness (Carysbrook Performing Arts Center), Into the Woods (Live Arts), Dancing with Myself (Four County Players), The Black Monologues, I’m Game, and Locked/Loaded (UVA). Associate & Assistant Directing: Beastgirl (The Kennedy Center), In the Heights (Live Arts), Pride and Prejudice (Heritage Theatre Festival).
